Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather will pay for George Floyd’s funeral

Floyd passed on account of Minneapolis police a week ago as former officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck and two different officials limited him. A fourth official remained by as it occurred. The former officers have all been fired by the department but only Chauvin has been charged in the death.

Retired ring great Floyd Mayweather will pay for the funeral services for George Floyd, Mayweather Promotions chief executive Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN on Monday.

Ellerbe affirmed to ESPN that Floyd’s family had acknowledged Mayweather’s proposal to pay for burial service administrations

He’ll probably get mad at me for saying that, but yes, (Mayweather) is definitely paying for the funeral, Ellerbe said.

The passing of the unarmed black man while in police care has touched off rough responses across America.

Mayweather “has done these kind of things over the last 20 years,” added Ellerbe, who said that the former five-division world champion — who retired in 2017 with a 50-0 record — didn’t want to talk about his gesture himself.

A funeral for Floyd will be held in his hometown of Houston on the 9th of June, confirmed by family attorney Ben Crump .

Prior to that, the family will hold a memorial service in Minneapolis on Thursday and a memorial service on Saturday in North Carolina, where Floyd was born.

An official post-mortem examination discharged on Monday found that Floyd died in a homicide involving “neck compression.”
